How to Identify Legacy Machinery Before Requesting Parts
A practical photo and marking checklist for faster equipment identification.

Start with the complete machine
Photograph the full machine from several angles and record its current location, purpose and operating condition.
Record plates and markings
Capture identification plates, stamped numbers, engine and transmission markings, and any legible component labels.
Document the failed assembly
Add overview and close-up photographs, symptoms, noises, leaks, measurements and the sequence that led to the failure.
Prepare the request
Include destination, quantity, required outcome and available manuals. Do not dismantle hazardous systems without qualified supervision.
